Rule 5: Observe Fast on Amavasya (Amavasya Ka Vrat Rakhna)

Eternal tradition of environmental harmony, livestock rest, self-purification, and sacred Pahal-Hawan.

"अमावस्या का व्रत रखणा, साखी राखो सुहागणी।"

Lord Sri Jambheshwar Ji made this rule mandatory while founding the Bishnoi faith at Samrathal Dhora (Bikaner) in Samvat 1542. On Amavasya, Mother Earth and working livestock receive complete rest. Plowing fields, harvesting crops, operating wells, or putting working animals to labor is strictly prohibited on this day.

🥥

1. Sacred Pahal & Hawan Ceremony

At morning sunrise on Amavasya, sacred oblations of pure ghee, dried coconut, and hawan samagri are offered into the sacrificial fire, and sanctified Pahal infused with the 121 divine hymns of the Shabad Vani is received.

🌿

2. Livestock Rest & Ecological Compassion

All farming and plowing operations are strictly suspended so that the soil and oxen receive a natural day of rejuvenation. This is historically humanity's first recorded ecological mandate for biodiversity conservation.

🕊️

3. Fasting & Spiritual Meditation

A day dedicated to mindful sattvic fasting, divine contemplation, reciting Jambhani verses, and serving community gaushalas and wildlife with fodder and water to earn spiritual merit.
